Coordinates: 34 ° 46 ′ S , 138 ° 39 ′ E The City of Salisbury is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . Salisbury is part of the metropolis of Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is 158 km² and has around 138,000 inhabitants (2016).
Salisbury is located at the mouth of Adelaide about 20 kilometers north of the city center. The area includes 32 districts: Bolivar, Brahma Lodge, Burton, Cavan, Dry Creek , Direk, Edinburgh, Elizabeth Vale, Globe Derby Park, Greenfields, Gulfview Heights, Ingle Farm, Mawson Lakes, Parafield, Parafield Gardens, Paralowie, Para Hills, Para Hills West, Para Vista, Pooraka, Salisbury, Salisbury Downs, Salisbury East, Salisbury Heights, Salisbury North, Salisbury Park, Salisbury Plain, Salisbury South, St Kilda, Valley View, Walkley Heights and Waterloo Corner. The council is headquartered in Salisbury.

Salisbury City Council has 17 members, 16 councilors are elected by the residents of the eight wards (two each from Central, East, Hills, Levels, North, Para, South and West Ward). These eight districts are defined independently of the city districts. The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the city.
