Coordinates: 34 ° 53 ′  S , 138 ° 36 ′  E The City of Prospect is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . Prospect belongs to the metropolis of Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is eight square kilometers and has about 20,000 inhabitants (2016).

Prospect borders Adelaide city center to the south. The area includes nine boroughs: Broadview, Collinswood, Fitzroy, Medindie Gardens, Nailsworth, Prospect, Ovingham, Sefton Park and Thorngate. The council's administrative headquarters are located in the Prospect district in the center of the LGA.

Prospect City Council has 11 members and 10 councilors are elected by the residents of the five wards (two each from Fitzroy, Highbury, Kingston, Nailsworth and St Johns Wood Ward). These five districts are determined independently of the districts. The council chairman and mayor (mayor) is also elected by all residents of the city.
