Samuel Oluwaseyi J. Ameobi (born May 1, 1992 in Newcastle upon Tyne ) is a Nigerian - English football player who has been under contract with Nottingham Forest since 2019 . His position is that of the forward, preferably on the left wing. His brothers Tomi and Shola are also soccer players.

Career

Sammy Ameobi began his career in his hometown of Newcastle with Newcastle United , all of whose youth teams he had played through. The striker made his debut for the first team on May 15, 2011, a few days after his 19th birthday, when he came on for Peter Løvenkrands in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea . His brother Shola was on the pitch with him on his debut . He scored his first league goal on October 26, 2014 in a 2-1 away win against Tottenham Hotspur , seven seconds after the restart after the half-time break.

In 2013 Ameobi was loaned to Middlesbrough FC for three months , and in 2015 to Cardiff City in the English second division for the entire 2015/16 season .

On June 24, 2019, Ameobi moved to Nottingham Forest and signed a one-year contract.

National team

Ameobi first played for the Nigerian U-20 national team , where he made his debut on March 11, 2011 against Saudi Arabia. After just one more game (against Egypt), he moved to the English association and made his debut in the same year on November 10, 2011 in the qualifier for the U-21 European Championship in a 5-0 win against Iceland, when he was in the 12th minute came on for the injured Nathan Delfouneso . In 2014, Ameobi decided to play for Nigeria again.
