society

Carl Jenkinson began his career in 2000 at the Charlton Athletic Youth Academy . Even before he made the leap into the professional squad for the 2010/11 season, was awarded to the sixth division Welling United in early 2010 , where he played ten league games until the end of his loan period. In November 2010 the dual citizen was granted to Eastbourne Borough for three months . But after only four league games, Jenkinson was recalled by Charlton Athletic. He made his competitive debut for Charlton on December 15 when he played in the Football League Trophy against Brentford FC . Until February 15, 2011 he had to wait until he could make his debut in the league, but the game against Hartlepool United ended with a 1: 2 defeat. By the end of the season he was able to book eight league appearances for himself.

In June 2011 he signed a contract with top club Arsenal for an undisclosed fee estimated at around one million pounds sterling . He was used for the first time for the professional team during the 2011 season preparation during the Asia trip. His competitive debut followed on August 16 in the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League qualifying against Italian representatives Udinese Calcio , where he replaced Johan Djourou in the 54th minute . In his second league game for Arsenal, he had to leave the field with a yellow-red card in the 77th minute in the 8-2 loss to Manchester United .

After the departure of Bacary Sagna , Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers were also committed to the right-back position, Jenkinson was loaned to West Ham United for the 2014/15 season. In the summer of 2015, Jenksinson's contract with Arsenal was extended long-term and the loan with West Ham extended to the 2015/16 season . Jenkinson returned to Arsenal in the spring of 2016 after suffering a knee injury.

On August 21, it was announced that Jenkinson would be loaned to the second division side Birmingham City for one season (2017/18).

After Jenkinson had spent the 2018/19 season back at Arsenal, he moved to the second division Nottingham Forest for the 2019/20 season .

National team

At first Jenkinson played four times for the England U17 national team, but then decided to play for the Finnish youth national team because of his mother's nationality. He ran once for the Finnish U-18 national team. He played his first game for the Finnish U19 team in a 2-0 defeat against Poland. He scored his first goal in a 6-2 victory over Moldova. On June 3, 2011, he played his first international match for the U21 national team in a 0-0 draw against Malta when he came on for Henri Toivomäki in the 66th minute .

On November 13, 2012, Jenkinson was first nominated by Roy Hodgson for England's senior team when he was subsequently called up for a friendly against Sweden .
