Wolfgang Borges
Wolfgang Borges (born December 28, 1938 in Hanover ; † March 14, 2014 in Travemünde ) was a German film director , film producer , cameraman , museum director and author . He was best known for his technology and expedition films.
Life
After graduating from high school , Wolfgang Borges studied theater studies , film directing, photography and mining history .
In 1960 he founded the UTV film television company . He also worked as a director for theater, film, television and radio and also took part in mining archaeological research projects. In 1975 he founded the Lower Saxony Mining Museum , which he headed as director from 1977 until 2004 as the mining museum Grube Lautenthalsglück . The carrier of the museum in the city of Langelsheim was the Hanover-based UTV-Film.
Borges was a member of the guild of professional filmmakers and a member of the German Museum Association .
In addition to his 1982 publication, Faces in the Pit , Borges produced various unprinted scripts as well as around 260 films for German and international television and around 340 programs for radio. He made documentaries for the North German radio , but also commercials . The film The Great Garden , in which Wolfgang Borges directed the camera, was nominated for an Oscar in 1965.
Borges has received numerous awards for his work.
