Old Swede is the name of a boulder in the Lower Saxon town of Lohne (Oldenburg) belonging peasantry Kroge-Ehrendorf .

The 2.50 meter wide and high, 3.60 meter long and 30 ton heavy granite gneiss creep was recovered in March 2016 in a field near the federal highway 214 ( 52 ° 36 ′ 10 ″ N, 8 ° 16 ′ 34 ″ O ). The stone is one of the largest erratic boulders in north-western Lower Saxony and is therefore classified as a natural monument by the Lower Saxony State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (LBEG). It could have reached the district of Vechta from Scandinavia around 150,000 to 200,000 years ago through the Ice Age .

The boulder was set up in front of the elementary school in Kroge ( 52 ° 36 ′ 55 ″ N, 8 ° 16 ′ 2 ″ E ) . The stone was given the official name Alter Schwede in a ceremony on May 30, 2016.
