Age reduction

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The age reduction in the public service of many federal states refers to the reduction of the service time or the deputate of teachers depending on their respective age and is intended to take into account the special burdens of the teaching profession.

The age reduction is regulated differently in the federal states. In Baden-Württemberg, for example, the full teaching load of a grammar school teacher is 25 teaching hours per week. An age reduction of one lesson from 25 to 24 hours is possible if the respective teacher is 58 years old. This so-called credit hour is deducted from the full credit in the school year in which the 58th year of life is reached, so it can take effect before the 58th birthday. In Baden-Württemberg, the entry age for the age reduction was raised from 55 to 60 years of age, and a complete abolition was also discussed at times.

The age reduction is only granted on application. It should not be confused with partial retirement .
