The Juristische Blätter , or “JBl” for short, is a journal for treatises on theoretical-dogmatic and practical problems from the entire field of Austrian law. They are published monthly with the supplement " Wirtschaftsrechtliche Blätter " by Verlag Österreich .

The legal papers first appeared as a weekly in Vienna in 1872 . From 1890 to 1908 the magazine was published by Robert Schindler , at times together with Edmund Benedikt . Ernst Bum acted as editor since 1908, first together with Robert Schindler, then alone. From 1922, the Juristische Blätter GmbH appeared as the owner and publisher. Ernst Bum continued to be the editor and editor-in-chief. In 1924 Heinrich Klang joined as editor. The legal papers were self-published until 1926. From 1928 lawyer Otto Zimbler took over from Ernst Bum as editor and the legal papers were published by Julius Springer's publishing house in Vienna.

In the years 1932 to 1938 the legal papers were combined with the court newspaper . Between 1939 and 1945 there are no records of the publication of the magazine. It came out again from 1946. The legal papers have been published by Verlag Österreich since 2012 and the sale of the SpringerWienNewYork legal program.

The magazine was initially published on a weekly basis, from 1926 every 14 days and from 1957 monthly. The legal sheets are available online in the specialist database LexisNexis Online in full text and recorded for decades.

The legal sheets deal with current and fundamental legal topics with regard to legal practice. A detailed decision section designed by scientists and practitioners documents the development of the highest court case law in all legal areas. A strict review process is intended to ensure compliance with scientific standards in the published articles.
