The Pernau Antiquities Society was a learned society in Livonia .

history

The antiquity research society in Pernau was founded in 1896 at the suggestion of Paul Schneider with the task of creating a collection of culturally valuable objects for a museum, researching the history of Pernau and conducting archaeological research. Around 2,000 finds from the Neolithic period, which were systematically recovered in the alluvial sand of the Pernau River , formed the basis for the museum, which was destroyed by fire in World War II . The library had about 5000 volumes.
