Old tax office (Arnsberg)
The old tax office in Arnsberg , Seibertzstraße 2–6, was built in 1922–1923 and is a listed building .
history
In the course of the imperial financial reform of 1920, a district tax office was set up in Arnsberg . Initially, the authority was temporarily housed in the post office on Neumarkt and in a house on Bömerstrasse. A new building was erected on Rumbecker Strasse in 1922–1923. The design came from building officer Karl Freckmann.
He created a building in the traditional style, strongly influenced by the neo-baroque . The thirteen- eighty front with a three-axis central risalit is reminiscent of a palace. The entrance portal is flanked by two Tuscan-style columns that support a balcony. The windows on the ground floor have a flat gable roof. There is a simple wedge on the upper floor . The roof is characterized by long dormers . On the back of the building, the shapes are taken up again in a simplified form. After the Second World War , an extension was built in the same style (Seibertzstrasse 4-6).
After the tax office moved to a larger building on the site of the former Höyinck brewery, the building remained an administration building. It was renovated in 1983 to meet the requirements of historical monuments and partially rebuilt inside. Parts of Department 3 of the district government have been housed in the building since 1985 . In 1985 the building was included in the list of monuments of the city of Arnsberg .
