Old town hall in Grombach

The old town hall in Grombach , a district of Bad Rappenau in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , was the town hall of the once independent municipality of Grombach from the mid-19th century to 1963. The administration and the fire brigade then moved into a new building in the neighborhood.

history

In Grombach there was no town hall for a long time, as the political community was subordinate to the castle estate of the Lords of Venningen at Grombach Castle, which once determined the location . Rather, the council met in the “Zur Goldenen Krone” inn , which was owned for a long time by the Laub family, who provided the mayor in Grombach between 1654 and 1730.

From 1854 to 1858 the first town hall was built in Grombach. The town hall also served as a fire station, so that office space was only on the first floor of the eastern half of the building, while the basement and the western, one-story half of the building were used by the fire brigade. A grist mill and a laundry room were also set up further east in an attached transverse building.

The town hall was the seat of the municipal administration and the fire brigade until 1963. The administration and the fire brigade then moved to the neighboring new town hall, built on the site of the former Grombach synagogue. Today the old town hall is used privately.
