Gasthof Krone in Grombach

The “Zur Goldenen Krone” inn in Grombach , a district of Bad Rappenau in the Heilbronn district in northern Baden-Württemberg , is a historic inn that probably dates back to the time before the Thirty Years War .

history

According to documentary evidence, the inn is the oldest inn in Grombach and was probably in operation before the Thirty Years' War. From the 17th to the 19th century, the inn was owned by the Laub family, who provided the mayor in Grombach between 1654 and 1730 . Since there was no town hall in Grombach until the construction of the old town hall in the middle of the 19th century , the inn also served as the town hall up to then. In 1753 a new building was erected, which in 1834 after a renovation was described in the fire insurance documents as a two-story house with a cellar, made of wood (listing 1000 florins); an annex with stables and distillery, lower floor made of stone (250 fl.); a barn with stables made of wood (300 florins), 4 pig stalls with wooden shed (50 florins).

In 1854 the license passed to Jakob Dick, who was married to Wilhelmina Hemmer. The Dick and Hemmer families were also among the honorable families of the place, from which pastors and local councils emerged. In 1864 a bowling alley and a "summer hall" were built. In 1872 Matthias Breunig took over the inn, in 1881 the property was transferred back to Jakob Dick, who had a massive new building built in the same year. Until the building was completed, the inn was temporarily relocated to the house of the widow Beetz opposite. In the "Krone" mainly farmers and workers frequented, and teachers from the Grombach elementary school, built in 1889, were housed in it if they came to Grombach for temporary help or representation.

In 1896 Heinrich Dick took over the inn. After 1905 the owners changed briefly before Dick's widow was named as the owner again in 1908. In 1934 the butcher Adam Dick owned the inn, in 1958 his son Willi Dick took it over and in 1999 his son Wolfgang Dick took it over. The inn has only been open for events for some time.
