Maksim Ivanov (born June 5, 1979 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Viking Tallinn in the Meistriliiga since 2012 .

Career

Club

Maksim Ivanov started his career as an ice hockey player in his Estonian homeland at JSK Monstera Tallinn . Later he changed teams every year and played in Russia, Latvia, Finland, Belarus and France, among others. In 1999 he was promoted to the Russian Super League with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod . With HK Riga 2000 he won the runner-up in the East European Hockey League in 2001 , while in 2005 he was only just able to prevent relegation from Ligue Magnus with the Image Club d'Épinal . He then played for four years at HK Stars Tallinn . In 2006, 2007 and 2009 he was able to win the Estonian championship title with the club from his hometown . In 2007 he was also a cup winner with his team . After the stars had to file for bankruptcy in 2009, he played for Narva PSK , Tartu Kalev-Välk and the Swedish Boro / Vetlanda HC in the following years . He was named the best striker of the Meistriliiga in 2010 and won his fourth national championship title with Tartu in 2011. Since 2012 he has been playing for HC Viking Tallinn , which until 2014 was still called Tallinn Viiking Sport, with which he won the Estonian title again in 2013 and 2014.

International

For Estonia, Ivanov took part in the 1999 U20-C World Championship in the junior division.

Before that, he made his debut for the men's national team at the 1998 B World Cup , a class in which he also played in 1999 . After switching to the current division system, he took part in Division I in 2001 , 2002 , 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2011 and 2013 . After relegations in the meantime, he was on the ice in 2002 , 2009 , when he and his compatriot Aleksandr Petrov were the second-best preparer behind their compatriot Aleksei Sibirtsev and also third-best scorer of the tournament behind these two, 2010 and 2012 in Division II.

He also played for Estonia in the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi .
