history

The first edition of the cup competition was played in 1996 with four teams in knockout mode; after the semi-final duels, the two victorious teams met in the final. Narva Kreenholm prevailed against THK-88 Tallinn and became the first Estonian team to win the national double. Tartu Välk 494 did the same thing a year later and the Tallinn Stars in 2007 . The tournament mode remained largely unchanged a year later and took place with four participating teams, with the finalists now completing a second final game. The shortened third edition of the competition in the calendar year 1998 only included one final series between Tartu Välk 494 and Central Kohtla-Järve .

After a nine-year break, the fourth edition of the cup competition with eight teams was played in March and April 2007. The tournament form initially included the quarter-finals with one encounter per team in knockout mode. The semi-final series then took place in two games, while the two finalists played a series of three finals.
