Keemik Kohtla-Järve is a former Estonian football and ice hockey club from the city of Kohtla-Järve .

Football department

history

Keemik Kohtla-Järve took part in several championships during the Soviet era . After breaking away from the Soviet Union and the establishment of the independent state of Estonia, the club was re-established in 1991 and played two years with moderate success in the Meistriliiga before the division was dissolved after the 1992/93 season .

Ice hockey department

The club also maintained an ice hockey division that participated in the Estonian SSR's ice hockey championship, which dominated the championship especially in the 1970s and 1980s. In total, the team won the Estonian championship 13 times until the dissolution of the Soviet Union .

Between 1952 and 1963 the team played as Kohtla-Järve Kalev , then until 1968 as Kohtla-Järve PTK and then until 1997 as Keemik Kohtla-Järve .

In the 1990s Keemik took part in the top division of Estonia, the Meistriliiga . In addition, the club took part in the IIHF Continental Cup in 1997 and in 1997 also reached the final of the Estonian Cup competition. The club was then renamed HK Central Kohtla-Järve before it was dissolved.
