Aleksei Sibirtsev (born December 5, 1987 in Narva , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Borås HC in Division 2 , Sweden's fourth-highest division, since 2017 .

Career

Club

Aleksei Sibirtsev began his career as an ice hockey player in his Estonian homeland at Narva PSK . When, in 2007, the Tartu Big Diamonds, an Estonian team for participation in the Latvian Ice Hockey League , was founded, the striker signed a contract there. But after a year the project had to be abandoned for financial reasons and Sibirtsev switched to the reigning Latvian runner-up ASK / Ogre , who played in the Belarusian extra league for a year . He also played individual games for his home club Narva PSK in the local Meistriliiga . Since 2009 he has played for the lower-class Swedish club Varberg HK , which he led from fifth-class division 3 to division 2 in 2011 . Three years later he made the leap to Division 1 with the club from the Kattegat Coast . During the 2016/17 season he moved to Halmstad HF , where he ended the season. He has been playing for Borås HC in Division 2 since 2017 .

International

For Estonia Sibirtsev took part in the junior division in Division II of the U18 World Junior Championship in 2005 and Division I of the U20 World Junior Championship in 2007 .

In the same year he made his debut for the men's national team at the World Cup in Division I , which also competed the following year , but had to accept relegation with his team after a 2-1 penalty shoot-out against Croatia . He played in 2009 when he was the best preparer and second best scorer of the tournament after his compatriot Aleksandr Petrov , and in 2010 in Division II. While the Estonians initially failed to Serbia , in 2010 Narva won five games in Sibirtsev's hometown at 62: 5 goals the recovery in a convincing manner. The Estonians had thus entered an elevator, because relegation from Division I at the 2011 World Cup and promotion in 2012 was followed by relegation in 2013 , which Sibirtsev's six goals - three of them in the 3-5 defeat against Poland - did not prevent could. With these six goals, however, he was together with the Ukrainian Roman Blahyj and the Lithuanian Aimas Fiščevas top scorer of the tournament. At the 2014 World Cup , the elevator for the Estonians went back up to Division I, to which Sibirtsev contributed with three goals and assists. At the 2015 World Cup , he and the team from the Baltic States managed to stay in Division I for the first time since 2007. He also played in Division I in 2016 , 2017 and 2018 .

He also played for Estonia in November 2008 in qualifying for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and in the Baltic Cup in 2016 and 2017.
