The old City Hall

The old town hall is the former seat of the municipality of Schöckingen (now part of the city of Ditzingen ).

The two-story, gable - facing half-timbered building at Schlossstrasse 14 was erected in 1788 on the site of a previous building from 1680. The brick ground floor was expanded as a fire department store in the 19th century . In 1927 the half-timbered structure was uncovered and in one of the central compartments the Schöckinger coat of arms and the biblical saying In the council you have to pay attention to what the sage says; and whatever he counsels is appropriate ( Sir 21:20).

After the local administration was moved to the former school, the building was temporarily used by a dental practice. In 1986 the local library and a branch of the Ditzinger Stadtmuseum were housed. The building is a cultural monument according to § 2 DSchG BW .
