Falkenstein old town hall
The old town hall in Falkenstein im Taunus was the town hall and later also the local school .
The town hall on Bergweg 2 in the center of Falkenstein was built around 1650. A half-timbered building with a gable roof stands above the high, solidly bricked base storey that supports the hillside . The house is crowned by a bell tower with a French dome . The decorative framework is designed differently on each floor and on each side. The ground floor is characterized by a strikingly strong corner post facing east (towards the town's main thoroughfare). The corner posts on the upper floor are reinforced by wild men . The parapet compartments on the upper floor are decorated with St. Andrew's crosses and diamond motifs. In the middle of the boarded-up gable is a clock that can be seen from afar.
The building was used as a town hall and as a school until 1778 and again from 1817.
