description

The building was constructed between 1820 and 1835. The Scottish architect Archibald Simpson , who lives in nearby Aberdeen , is responsible for the design . The current business building, owned by the British Crown, was used as a customs house, but also housed a branch of the Bank of Scotland .

The two-story building with a high basement is at the intersection of Broad Street and Frithside Street in the center of Fraserburgh. It is designed in the typical Simpsons style in the classical Greek Revival . The facades along both streets are two axes wide. The building edge is rounded. The three-axis-wide curve is designed with an Ionic portico . A sculptured urn stands on the flat sloping roof.
