The old cats ( Prionailurus ) are a genus of predators from the family of cats (Felidae). They include five relatively small species that are unique to Asia :
With the exception of the fish cat, old cats are only approximately as big as domestic cats . Their gray or brown fur may be spotted. In general, they are rather stocky animals with small ears and relatively short limbs.
The systematic relationships with other cats have not been clarified; certain molecular genetic studies place them in the vicinity of the serval or the caracal .
