Joseph Alexander Altsheler
Joseph Alexander Altsheler (born April 29, 1862 in Three Springs , Kentucky , † June 5, 1919 in New York City , New York ) was an American author .
Life
Altsheler was born in Three Springs , Kentucky . In 1885 he began working for the newspaper The Courier-Journal . As a Hawaiian correspondent, he worked from 1889 on the New York newspaper New York World . He later wrote children's stories for the newspaper.
Altsheler married Sarah Boles in 1888; they had a son together. During the First World War he and his family were in Germany . Altsheler fell seriously ill on the way home to America and died in New York City in 1919 .
