Alvin Ulbrickson

Alvin "Al" Edmund Ulbrickson Jr (born October 10, 1930 in Seattle ; † July 6, 2012 ibid) was an American rower.

At the 1952 Summer Olympics , Carl Lovsted , Alvin Ulbrickson, Richard Wahlstrom , Matthew Leanderson and helmsman Albert Rossi from the University of Washington competed in a four with helmsman . In the second heat, the Americans won ahead of the British and the Danes, and they won their semi-finals ahead of the French. The four-man from Czechoslovakia won the second semi-final ahead of the Swiss and the British. The boats from France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom reached the finals as the winners of the three hope races. In the final, the Czechoslovaks won three seconds ahead of the Swiss, while the Americans took the bronze medal half a second behind the Swiss.

Alvin Ulbrickson graduated from Physical Education in 1952. After his military service he worked at the University of Washington and later at the Chamber of Commerce.

Alvin Ulbrickson was the son of Al Ulbrickson , longtime trainer of the Washington Huskies , the University of Washington sports team. Four years before the crew around his son, Ulbrickson had already trained the Olympic champions in the foursome with helmsman from 1948 .
