Alwin Grope

Alwin Grope († 1325 ) was councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Grope was the son of Lübeck councilor Werner Grope and, after being part of the Lübeck council, was probably councilor in Lübeck as early as the 13th century. He is documented in 1301 as Lübeck's ambassador to Denmark. In 1310 he was head of the Johanniskloster in Lübeck. He was involved in bonds over 1000 silver marks (1312) and over 500 silver marks (1313) to the Swedish Duke Erik Magnusson .

He was married to a daughter of Goswin Klingenberg, a citizen of Lübeck, and lived in the house at Breite Strasse 1–3 , acquired in 1290, until 1301 , and then at Königstrasse 42 .
