Stephan Foremny
Stephan Foremny (born March 2, 1931 in Wartenburg in Warmia ; † March 16, 2006 in Münster in Westphalia ) was a German musician , composer , choir director and university teacher .
Live and act
His father Karl Foremny was a master baker and owner of the bakery in Wartenburg. The family did not manage to escape from the approaching Red Army . The father was arrested by the NKVD as a bakery owner and “ capitalist ” in spring 1945 and deported to the Soviet Union - he never came back. Stephan Foremny completed his Abitur (Polish: Matura) in Olsztyn and studied composition, piano and conducting at the Higher State Music School in Warsaw from 1949–1956 . In the years 1955-1956 he took over as External at the State on piano lessons music school in Kielce part.
After graduating, he became known as a pianist, organist and composer and was employed as a piano teacher at the Olsztyn Music School. He collected folk songs from Warmia and Masuria , composed choral music for three-part choir and published it as a book in Olsztyn in 1960. In April 1961 he was one of the founders of the local Association of Polish Music Artists (Stowarzyszenie Polskich Artystów Muzyków, SPAM) and in 1960–1962 he was the conductor of the Wiktor Wawrzyczek Choir (Chór im. Prof. Wiktora Wawrzyczka) at the Technical-Agricultural Society Academy (Akademia Rolniczo-Techniczna, ART) in Olsztyn.
After the resettlement in 1963, he lived with the family in Münster, took over the management of the Warmian choir and the church choir at the parish of St. Stephanus (Münster) and worked as a university teacher at the Detmold University of Music (Münster Institute). Bishop Reinhard Lettmann awarded him the Cäcilienabzeichen in 1993 for his many years of work as a choir director (40 years) . His music works for tuba and piano, the American musicologist and tuba R. Winston Morris mentioned in his work in the year of 2006.
The son Matthias Foremny (born 1972 in Münster) is also a conductor .
