amGod is a German dark electro / crossover project that was founded in December 1993 by Dominik van Reich after the separation of the music group yelworC in Munich. The texts are in both German and English. The sound of amGod today is characterized by electro sounds and hard guitar riffs.

The name has its origin from the word dogma and symbolizes the 1st commandment (of any religion) in the opposite sense ( dogma I = I am god = I am God ). amGod is very similar in meaning to narcissism . It refers not only to the artist himself, but to egoism in the sense of the monotheism of every single individual.

In 1994 the debut Half Rotten and Decayed appeared on the label Celtic Circle Productions, accompanied by several compilation contributions. A video for an appearance on June 25, 1994 at the fifth “Night of Darkness” festival in Krefeld was released on VHS that same year. The second album Crime! was released in 1999 and was originally only available as a download. All three works were re-released in 2004 in the 4-CD box Half Rotten and Decayed (including an audio CD of the “Night of Darkness” concert) with some bonus tracks.

After a long period of abstinence and over a year of studio work, the third album Dreamcatcher was released in November 2010 , which deals with the depths of humanity and the decline of today's society.

Another new album and EP in digital format have been announced for 2014.
