At Buachaille there is a 65 meter high breakwater in the Scottish Sea near Sandwood Bay , off Sutherland in the northwest of the Scottish Highlands . It is separated from the mainland by an arm of the sea a few meters wide. The rock is made of sandstone .

The name comes from the Scottish Gaelic and means shepherd .

The Buachaille was first climbed in 1968 by Tom Patey and Ian Clough .
