The Neue Post in Ingolstadt

Am Stein 8 , also called Neue Post , is a monument in the Bavarian city of Ingolstadt . It is a Baroque style , three-storey group building in a corner position with a flat core, curved gables and a tower-like roof turret with a hood .

history

After the Ingolstadt telephone system opened on October 1, 1897, it became clear to the Royal Ministry of Post that the post office had to move due to lack of space. From 1907 onwards, construction began on the corner of Milchstrasse and Am Stein. The tower testifies to the client's will to represent, but also had a practical use: The cables stretched from the platform in all four directions to the individual telephone connections in the city. Today the tower is empty.
