Amaia Zubiria (born September 11, 1947 in Donostia , Gipuzkoa ) is a Spanish - Basque singer .

Life

Influenced by her mother, she showed great interest in singing from an early age. Even as a young girl she took part in competitions, due to her early wedding she disappeared from the public for some time and did not record any new songs. She released three albums in collaboration with Txomin Artola and another three with Pascal Gaigner, including Egun Argi Hartan in 1985. She released 12 solo albums. The main themes of her songs are love , loss , melancholy , nostalgia , the search for meaning and folklore .

Amaia Zubiria is a member of the Basque band Haizea and works partly with other singers, partly alone.
