The Amami Guntō Quasi National Park ( Japanese 奄 美 群島 国 定 公園 , Amami guntō kokutei kōen ) was one of over 50 quasi national parks in Japan . He was on the Amami-guntō ( Amami Islands ) in the south of Kagoshima-ken ( Kagoshima Prefecture ). The ken government was responsible for managing the park, which was appointed in 1974. The park area covered a (land and water) area of approx. 80 km². With the IUCN Category V, the park area was classified as a Protected Landscape / Protected Marine Area .
On March 7, 2017, it became the national park of the same name .
