Amanda Tscherpa
Amanda Tscherpa , actually Amanda Lachenwitz ( May 1, 1846 in Düsseldorf - September 1915 in Cologne ) was a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ) and stage actress .
Life
Tscherpa was trained by Minona Frieb-Blumauer and Eduard Mantius and began her stage career as a soubrette in Cologne.
Then she was engaged in Berlin, Magdeburg, Bremen, Nuremberg, Breslau, Stettin and Königsberg (East Prussia) and St. Petersburg. From 1888 to 1892 she worked at the Riga City Theater as both an opera singer and an actress. Then she worked again in Cologne until 1903.
She was a usable and dignified actress. Always on the job, fully living her profession, she performed excellently.
Notable opera roles are the "Gertrud" in Hans Heiling von Marschner, the "Marguerite" in La dame blanche von Boieldieu, the "Mary" in the Flying Dutchman , the "Countess" in the Wildschütz von Lortzing, the "Marthe" in Faust by Gounod, the "Marchesa" in Donizetti's regiment daughter and the "Edwige" in Wilhelm Tell von Rossini.
