Ambrus Balogh (born August 12, 1915 in Csengerújfalu , Austria-Hungary , † July 6, 1978 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian sports shooter .

successes

Ambrus Balogh took part in the Olympic Games three times . In 1948 he took seventh place in London with the free pistol over 50 m and 38th place with the rapid fire pistol over 25 m. At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 he scored 549 points with the free pistol, so that he won the bronze medal behind Huelet Benner and Ángel León . He also competed with the free rifle in the three-position battle and was tenth in the competition. In his third and last Olympic participation in Rome in 1960 , he finished the competition with the free pistol in 16th place. At world championships Balogh first won the bronze medal with the free pistol in Lucerne in 1939 . In 1958 he secured bronze in team competitions in Moscow with the free rifle in the three-position battle and silver with the small-bore rifle in a standing position.
