The seven-spotted ant ladybird ( Coccinella magnifica ) is a beetle from the ladybird family (Coccinellidae).

features

The beetles grow to be six to eight millimeters long. They look confusingly similar to the seven point because they also have a black body with red elytra , which often have seven black points. The number of points can vary between 5 and 11 points. The black pronotum has two light, yellowish spots on the sides. The distinguishing features of the seven point are its more arched body shape and small, triangular, white spots behind the middle and rear pairs of legs. The seven point only has these spots in the middle pair.

Occurrence

The seven-spotted ant ladybug is common all over Europe. It lives on different plants, in different areas, but prefers to be near anthills .

food

Beetles and larvae feed on aphids . This diet is typical of a large group of ladybugs.
