Karl Florenz translates as "The [with the cry:] 'Truly I win!' Triumphant, vigorous, all-conquering great illustrious person of heaven") is a male kami in Shinto mythology .

birth

His birth came out of a test that Susanoo and his sister Amaterasu decided. Susanoo had visited her before he was supposed to be banished forever to the underworld (because he did not rule the earthly kingdom entrusted to him, but wanted to go to his mother Izanami in the underworld Yomi ), to, as he told her, say goodbye to his sister .

Amaterasu was suspicious of him. To check whether Susanoo had come with a pure heart and without dark intentions, they swore an oath: Susanoo should (or both should together) produce children ( nasu ). If these were female, Susanoo's heart would be impure. In the case of male offspring, however, his good intentions are certain.

So they gave each other in a ritual (the sequence of which in the myths differs greatly from each other) at the "calm river of heaven" ( Ame-no-yasu-kawa ) several objects from their respective possessions and broke (or chewed) them, whereupon they they brought to life with their breath. The five created by Susanoo were male, the three by Amaterasu (the Munakata-Kami ) were female. So Susanoo had been honest. As a result, he behaved arrogant and extremely rowdy, which was followed by the episode in which Amaterasu hid in her cave.

Since the kami were made from objects of each other, Amaterasu raised the male as her children and Susanoo got the female.

Of the jewels from Amaterasu's hair that Susanoo made into Kami with his breath, Amenooshihomimi (in this part of the myths Masakaakatsukachihayahi Amenooshihomimi no mikoto) had become.

Plans to rule the land

Amaterasu chose Amenooshihomimi to rule ( shirasu ) over the "land of the fresh ears of the thousand autumns and the long five hundred autumns of the lush reeds" (豊 葦 原 之 千秋 長 五百 秋 之 水 穂 国Toyo-ashi-hara no Chi-aki no Naga-i-i -ho-aki no Midzu-ho no Kuni , i.e. Japan ) and sent him down from heaven Takamanohara for this purpose . Amenooshihomimi returned halfway from the “Heavenly Suspension Bridge” ( Ama-no-Uki-hashi ): Because the country was full of rebellious and wild, earthly kami, it first had to be pacified.

While this was being planned under the advice of the Heavenly Kami, Amenooshihomimi married Yorozuhatahime and had a son with her: Ninigi .

After the land was subdued (by Takemikazuchi ), Amaterasu and Takamimusubi approached Amenooshihomimi and reigned him. But Amenooshihomimi referred to his son, who should rule in his place. Amaterasu and Takamimusubi handed over the authority to rule over Japan according to Ninigi.
