Amer Sports Oyj (formerly Amer-Yhtymä Oyj) is a Finnish sports equipment manufacturer. Founded in 1950, the Helsinki- based company carries sporting goods brands such as Wilson , Atomic , Suunto , Precor, Salomon and Armada Skis.

The company was initially active in various industries (ships, tobacco products and media), but over the years it developed into a manufacturer and seller of sporting goods.

In 1961, it acquired the rights to sell Philip Morris cigarettes, which it sold back to Phillip Morris in 2004.

In the 1960s it acquired three ships; in the 1970s it bought various media companies such as Weilin + Göös . In the 1980s, the company acquired the vehicle manufacturer Korpivaara and thereby acquired the distribution rights to market Citroën and Toyota in Finland.

In 1986 Amer Sports focused its focus on sports equipment. The company acquired a significant stake in golf equipment supplier MacGregor from Jack Nicklaus. In 1974 the company had also acquired the hockey equipment supplier Koho-Tuote , which it sold again in 1986. In 1989 Amer Sports acquired the American company Wilson Sporting Goods from Chicago, a leading supplier to golf and tennis, and in 1994 the Austrian ski equipment manufacturer Atomic and in 1999 the Finnish sports equipment manufacturer Suunto . In 2000, the baseball and softball supplier company DeMarini was acquired. In 2005, Amer Sports completed the purchase of the sports equipment supplier Salomon from Adidas .

In March 2019, the company was taken over by a consortium of buyers led by the Chinese company Anta Sports .

In 2019 Mavic was sold to the American investment firm Regent LP.

Peak Performance is a Swedish outdoor brand based in Stockholm. The company, founded in 1986, belonged to the Danish clothing group IC Group A / S until 2018.

Arc'teryx

Arc'teryx is a Canadian textile company based in Vancouver. The company, which was founded in 1990, was independent until 2002 and on January 15, 2002 it was 100% acquired by Adidas- Salomon for an amount of € 18 million. Adidas sold Salomon to Amer Sports at the end of 2005 , and with it Arc'teryx. Outdoor clothing, backpacks, climbing equipment and protective textiles are offered under the brand. Arc'teryx mainly produces in China .
