Wilson Sporting Goods ("Wilson Sportartikel"; also Wilson for short ) is an American sporting goods manufacturer that belongs to the Finnish company Amer Sports . The factory is located in the US city of Ada in the state of Ohio . The company is the only one in the United States that is licensed to manufacture and sell soccer balls for the US market.

The company's core sports are tennis , baseball , football , golf , basketball , softball , badminton, and squash . The company is divided into the Racquet Sports , Team Sports and Golf divisions.

Wilson is the sponsor of numerous professional tennis players. Some of the most successful players of all time have won their titles with rackets from this brand, including Roger Federer , Pete Sampras , Steffi Graf and Serena Williams . Wilson brand tennis balls are used in the US Open , Davis Cup and Fed Cup, and the WTA Tour .

A Wilson volleyball plays a central role in the film Cast Away with Tom Hanks (see also product placement ).

Wilson has been the official ball supplier for the 2nd Bundesliga since 2011 .

From 1946 to 1983, Wilson was the official match ball for the National Basketball Association (NBA). From the 2021/22 season, the league will play with Wilson balls again after 38 years.
