American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists ( ACOG ) is the name of the largest gynecological - obstetric society in the United States , based in Washington, DC and with over 58,000 members.

The company was the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1951 in Chicago ( Illinois founded).

The members are as a fellow called and run the abbreviation FACOG her name. An annual two-part examination is required to become a member.

The official publication organ of the ACOG since 1953 is the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology , which is also known as "The Green Journal" .
