American Dream Meadowlands , formerly also known as Meadowlands Xanadu , is a retail and entertainment complex under construction at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford , Bergen County , New Jersey . It is set to be the largest of its kind in the United States . After numerous postponements, the Nickelodeon Theme Park and the ice rink of this complex opened on October 25, 2019.

The opening of the shopping area will be postponed to 2020. It will be the second largest of its kind on the continent of North America.

Main attractions

  • SkiDome , a 23,000 m² indoor ski slope .
  • Skydiving Simulator , a parachute simulation system with a vertical wind tunnel .
  • Indoor Ice Rink , a public indoor ice rink.
  • Live Performing Arts Theater , usable as a theater and concert hall, with a capacity of 3,000 people.
  • Amusement Park , an air-conditioned indoor theme park with a glass roof.
  • Water Park , also an air-conditioned water park.
  • Movie theater , one of the largest of its kind with over 5,000 seats.
  • Legoland Discovery Center , the largest Discovery Center in the United States.

criticism

This mega project has had many critics criticizing CBS New York:

  • the expensive parking fees, everything from half an hour costs money
  • Congestion on the New Jersey road network that is already at full capacity
  • Environmental concerns
  • poor accessibility from New York City
