The Meadowlands Sports Complex is an entertainment and sports complex in East Rutherford , New Jersey .

It consists of several large institutions such as the MetLife - Football Stadium , the Meadowlands Racetrack ( "The Big M"), the Izod Center , a convention centers, train station Meadowlands station , the Timex Performance Center (since 2013 Quest Diagnostics Training Center) and the American Dream Meadowlands , a retail and entertainment complex under construction (formerly Meadowlands Xanadu). The complex is owned by the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA).

Meadowlands Racetrack

The Meadowlands Racetrack is a horse racing track for harness racing and horse racing , the familiar "The Big M" is called.

It opened in the mid-1970s. The first trotting race took place on September 1, 1976, while the first horse race was started on September 6, 1977.

Inside the racetrack is a lake shaped like the state of New Jersey. The racetrack is equipped with floodlights . Most races are held at night. Numerous races are broadcast live.

The Hambletonian , the most important race in the world of harness racing, has been run on the Meadowlands Racetrack since 1981 . It is the first race of the " Triple Crown of Harness Racing for Trotters". The Cane Pace, part of the Harness Racing's Pacing Triple Crown, and The Goldsmith Maid are also held here.
