American Eagle Outfitters is an American fashion company headquartered in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania . The company sells clothing for the target group of 15 to 25 year old men and women.
history
The company was founded in 1977 by brothers Jerry and Mark Silverman . In 1977, the first American Eagle store opened in Novi , Michigan . On April 22, 1994, the company went public. At that time, 167 stores were in operation. In 2000 a store was opened in Canada for the first time, and thus for the first time outside the United States. Since then, further business has taken place worldwide.
Brands and stores
In addition to the American Eagle brand , AEO also sells products under the Aerie and formerly Martin + Osa and 77 kids brands.
A total of 1,047 own stores were operated in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China at the beginning of 2018. In addition, there are another 214 stores worldwide that are operated by licensed partners. Most of these are in Israel (42 stores) and Japan (34 stores).
