American Vacuum Society

AVS: Science and Technology of Materials, Interfaces, and Processing (formerly American Vacuum Society ) is an American society of physicists founded in 1953.

The AVS is a member of the American Institute of Physics and has approximately 5,000 members worldwide, comprised of science, governmental laboratories, and industry. The company publishes the Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology (JVST A and B) through the American Institute of Physics .

The AVS itself consists of eleven technical divisions and two technical groups:
