The Amertaler See (also Amersee ) is a reservoir with a storage target of 2279.5 m above sea level. A. , which is located within the Granatspitz Group in the Austrian municipality of Mittersill . It has a storage volume of 5.5 hm³ and is located in the catchment area of the Amerbach .
The originally natural lake was enlarged from 1956 to 1958 by the construction of a 30 m high gravity dam with a 162 m long, curved crown. In the Stubachtal power plant group, the Amertaler See serves as annual storage for the Enzingerboden storage power plant (81 MW) as well as for Schneiderau (35 MW) and Uttendorf I (27 MW) or alternatively for Uttendorf II (66 MW). These are operated by ÖBB Infra and used to generate traction current . Feeding into the public power grid is also possible. For energy use, the water of the lake is transferred to the slightly lower Weisssee ( 2250 m ) via a 5.65 km long gravity tunnel , in which the water from the Salzplattensee ( 2298.5 m ) can also be discharged .
