Amin Ali

Amin Ali (born May 4, 1956 in Philadelphia ) is an American fusion musician ( bass guitar ).

Live and act

Ali comes from a family of musicians; he is the eldest son of the drummer Rashied Ali . He played from 1980 (together with Calvin Weston ) in the trio of James Blood Ulmer . He was also active in the Music Revelation Ensemble until 1996 , where he toured with Ulmer and initially with Ronald Shannon Jackson and David Murray .

In 1993 Christy Doran and Fredy Studer started their project Doran / Studer / Minton / Bates & Ali Play the Music of Jimi Hendrix . The following year, Bates was replaced by Tom Cora . In 1995/96 the project appeared in a quartet formation in Europe with Phil Minton , Ali, Studer and Doran, but also went on tour in Canada and the USA. Ali has also appeared on Phalanx albums with George Adams , John Kings Electric World, and Samm Bennett. Tom Lord lists 26 recording sessions between 1980 and 1996. In 2009 he toured Europe again with James Blood Ulmer. On the occasion of his father's funeral, he performed in Philadelphia that same year.
