Amina Salum Ali (* 1956 in Zanzibar ) is an ambassador for the African Union .

Life

She is a Bachelor from the University of Delhi , retired civil servant and politician from Tanzania . From 1985 to 1988 she was Deputy Minister of Finance, Economy and Planning of Zanzibar . From 1990 to 1996 she was Finance Minister of Zanzibar. From 1996 to 2005 she was Finance Minister of Tanzania. In 2005 she was unable to prevail in the Chama Cha Mapinduzi Party (CCM) against incumbent Amani Abeid Karume as a presidential candidate. On April 13, 2007, she was appointed Ambassador of the African Union in Washington, DC , where her letter of accreditation was received on July 25, 2007.
