Amla is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh . The city is located in the southern part of the state.

The city is part of the Betul district . Amla has municipal council status . The city is divided into 18 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had 30,215 inhabitants, of which 15,562 were men and 14,653 women. Hindus make up the majority of the city's population with a share of over 88%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 89.04%, well above the national average.

Before independence, the place was used by the British to store their ammunition. The name is derived from the English term "Ammunition Land", which was later abbreviated to Amla.

The Amla train station connects the city with the rest of the country. The station is part of the Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways .
