Ammi
R. Ammi ( Ammi ben Natan ; also: Immi ) was an Amora of the 2nd and 3rd generation in Palestine and lived and worked in the third century AD.
With Assi he formed the most important student couple from R. Jochanan's school in Tiberias . They were called the most valued priests of Palestine or judges of Palestine . Mostly they were of one opinion. I.a. they decided to finally declare the Samaritans as " pagans ".
R. Ammi often stayed in Babylonia and perhaps studied at the Raws School in Sura , whose doctrines he also passed on.
After Jochanan's death, Ammi was elected head of the school in Tiberias.
Ammi was probably also a pupil of Hoschajas and is mentioned not only together with Assi, but also together with Chijja II.
