Amperex Technology Limited ( ATL ) is a Chinese lithium-ion battery manufacturer with headquarters in Hong Kong and manufacturing facilities in Dongguan and Ningde . The company was founded in 1999 and taken over by TDK in 2005 .
After the global market leader Samsung SDI , it takes the valued second place in smartphone batteries.
