The Ample Bay ( English for Spacious Bay ) is a 2.9 km wide bay on the north coast of South Georgia . The confluence of the Grace Glacier at the head end is a striking feature . It is located 3 km east of Sunset Fjord in the southwest part of the Bay of Isles .
Robert Cushman Murphy sketched the bay during his visit to South Georgia (1912–1913) aboard the brig Daisy . Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it between 1929 and 1930 and gave it a descriptive name.
