Amrita Singh (born February 9, 1958 in Punjab , India ) is an Indian film actress .

Life

Amrita Singh comes from a Sikh family. She is the daughter of Shivinder Singh Virk, who was an officer in the Indian army, and Rukhsana Sultana, who was an Indian political activist. Amrita Singh attended the Modern School in New Delhi from 1964 to 1976 and then completed an acting training. In October 1991 she married Saif Ali Khan . Before marrying, she converted to Islam . In 1993 she interrupted her film career to devote herself to her family; In 2002 she had a successful comeback in the movie March 23rd, 1931: Shaheed . In 2004 the couple divorced. In the 2017 film Mubarakan , Amrita Singh left filming and was replaced by Ratna Pathak.
