history

The Recklinghausen district in 1845

As part of the introduction of the rural community order for the province of Westphalia , the Buer office was formed in the Recklinghausen district in 1844 . The office, which emerged from the mayor's office Buer , initially included the four municipalities of Buer , Gladbeck , Horst and Westerholt .

Gladbeck left office in 1885 and has since formed its own office. Horst also resigned from office in 1891 and has since formed his own office.

In 1910 the Buer office had 64,943 inhabitants.

The municipality of Buer received town charter in 1911 and has formed its own urban district since 1912. Westerholt, the only municipality remaining in office, has formed the Westerholt office since then . This was repealed in 1934.
