Duke Georg Wilhelm of Braunschweig and Lüneburg acquired the Elbe islands Stillhorn , Rothehaus and Georgswerder from the noble Grote family in 1672 and merged them with the Reiherstieg and the Schluisgrove farm to form the Wilhelmsburg rule, which he gave to his wife Eleonore d'Olbreuse , later Countess of Wilhelmsburg, gave.
